OSWEGO — More than 2,500 rallies are planned around the country on Saturday as part of the “No Kings” movement, and one of those protests is scheduled for the city of Oswego.

Protesters in Oswego County have met for 29 straight Saturdays to voice concerns over what they call threats to democracy and authoritarian drift under the Trump administration. The “No Kings” rallies are rooted in the broader national movement and the Oswego Indivisible group aiming to challenge centralized power and defend human rights and amendments.

Oct. 11 was no exception — in the city of Oswego, just over 100 people gathered on East Bridge Street from 10-11 a.m., lining the sidewalk on both sides of the street in front of Washington Square Park to make their voices heard. Participants held signs, cheered to cars driving and chanted along to a band playing songs of hope and freedom.
